Here I go!

This is a first for me...my very first attempt at blogging! For years I've tried writing journals, but none of them ever really stuck with me for some reason other than sheer laziness! I did write a garden journal for a few years when we lived in London, Ontario. It was very sporadic and mainly written during the growing seasons but I used to love looking back at it over the years and compare the weather, the progress of the plants etc, plus I had photos stuck in there....it was just an ordinary notebook and so I had to stick the photos in with scotch tape....not the best way to do it, but it worked for me! I would also keep plant labels, seed envelopes, etc. Then we moved, and I stopped. So....I thought I would try my hand at keeping a Blog. I really don't know who will bother to want to read it. I lead such a dull, boring life, but some days I just feel the need to get my thoughts out before they drive me mad! I like chatting with friends I have online, sending and receiving email etc, but for those days when I just want to get it all out, or I'm just bored or whatever.....I guess this is a good a place as anywhere! I really like writing letters in the old fashioned way, pen on paper, but I got out of the habit after my Mother and my Aunt died over ten years ago. They lived in England and other than the occasional phone call, our main communication was by letters. Years ago I also used to write to my friends and one or two cousins, but I found it very frustrating as I'm the type of letter writer who likes to receive a letter, enjoys reading it, then wants to sit down and write straight back! However most people don't want to do that and sometimes it would go for months before I would get a reply to my letters and so gradually the letters became fewer and fewer to the point where these days I'm lucky to receive a short 'updating' letter included with our Christmas cards! The exceptions to this were, of course, my Mother and my Aunt who would complain if they hadn't received a reply to their letters within a couple of weeks or so! I miss them and I miss their written words.
